This isn't a new idea for a thread, by any means--it's something of a staple for Beach Boys boards over the past 20 years!--but every so often, you can't tell me that as some song comes across your ears, you don't imagine how it might've sounded had the Beach Boys done it. You might even be one of those freaks like me who starts thinking which era of the Beach Boys might've tackled it, who might've taken what parts, and so on.
Listening to Wings' Wild Life today, it was their cover of "Love is Strange" that occurred to me. I can imagine an early '70s version with Blondie prominent in the vocal mix (as well as the guitar part!), but the song being based more on the Mickey & Sylvia original than on the Wings version. Carl or Al certainly could've handled the higher part, or Mike could've taken the lower one with Blondie on the higher. Whoever wasn't dueting could've provided background vocals that extend beyond the little "yeah-yeah" and such into real background harmonies. I'd even extend the vocal harmonies through the guitar solo (which I'd have kept simple, as in the original).
I would cut the cutesy dialogue.

Imagine it's 1967 and the Boys are assembling a mix of groovy originals and covers for Lei'd in Hawaii. There's The Letter, Game of Love, etc, etc, and then....
I can hear it. Thoughts, anyone?

Yeah, I could definitely hear that as a Lei’d-era Beach Boys tune. The drums, with the heavy emphasis on the snare, translates well. Brian on organ. Al singing lead. Keep the tempo up. I’d love to hear Brian sing that falsetto part - to really go after it. (Although, I could also hear Bruce pull it off in his more reserved style.)

Oh, yes, I can definitely hear it. There's a couple of Del Shannon songs that would've been a good fit for The Beach Boys, and as we know, they used to perform "Runaway" in concert with Al Jardine on the lead vocal.

Whenever this topic comes up, the first song that usually comes to mind is "She's Just My Style" by Gary Lewis & The Playboys. The song was co-written by Leon Russell, who also supplied piano. Leon played on several sessions for Gary Lewis & The Playboys; he also co-wrote "Everybody Loves A Clown".
Anyway, for years, I used to envision Mike Love singing the lead vocal to "She's Just My Style", but as the years go by, with Mike's voice changing, I now think Al's voice might be a better fit. Mike would still sound excellent supplying the bass vocal part "(Dont you know that she's..."). I think this song would be a great cover...today! It's fun, it rocks a little, it's The Beach Boys' style.

I can hear it too. But if it's going to be live, I'd also be interested in hearing a version from just a little later, when they began augmenting the band. Nothing to do with this song especially, but the Lei'd stuff is so minimal, to me it feels a little flaccid. A song like this I like to hear some muscle to it. (A studio version from that same Lei'd/Wild Honey era could have been great, too. But I'd really be hoping for full, real production, not the overly minimalist stuff.)

I'd have liked to hear the 1964 era Beach Boys tackle this summer tune

Good one! I didn't know the song, but it's easy to hear Mike singing the lead on that, and the background voices really bolstered by a great BW arrangement and those voices. Even that little stop-start at :42, it just sounds right.

A lot of Beach Boys connections on there.
1 Brian Wilson co-write 1 song by Gary Usher, a collaborator 4 songs covered by the Beach Boys or their members 1 song ("Summer in the City") explicitly stated as inspiration for a Beach Boys song ("Winter Symphony")
I'm surprised Mike hasn't thought up a "concept album" that's just a straight cover of that collection!

12 Sides of Summer was kind of along those lines. Of course, he could always do 12 MORE Sides of Summer.

Also a pre BB Bruce Johnston.

I always thought this song had a bit of a Today/Summer Days era Beach Boys vibe to it. Parts of it remind me of Help Me Rhonda.

Gary and the lads were one of several similar-ish bands that never made it in the UK, although I always liked what I heard of theirs on pirate radio. Too American, perhaps (whatever that means)? Pity, anyway...

Pity, anyway... I don't know about the "too American" concept. There is something just forgotten about the group in general. I remember back in the 1980s I had a high school buddy who was just crazy about the song This Diamond Ring. He would request the song on all the oldies stations, and no one seemed to know what he was talking about. It became a holy grail to him. When he finally got a cassette recording from who knows where, and he played it for me, I "got it". Not a bad song at all. Maybe the fact that Gary Lewis was the nephew of comic genius Jerry Lewis caused him to not be taken seriously? At any rate I have acquired 3 or 4 singles from the group, one being a rather curious Liberty promo with a strange tan label.
