I don't know if there's a thread here. Whatever. Take it where you will. Favorites, most hated, apt, wholly off base. Song titles.
But I felt the overwhelming need to say something when the Mountain Goats released another advance single from their upcoming album. This song's title?
"The Slow Parts of Death Metal Songs."
This band consistently has the greatest song titles, if nothing else. (I happen to like a lot of their music, too. Great lyrics, especially.) A few more of them?
"The Best Ever Death Metal Band In Denton" "Fall of the High School Running Back" "For Charles Bronson" "Heel Turn 2" "Insurance Fraud #2" "Song For the Julian Calendar" "Andrew Eldritch is Moving Back to Leeds" "For the Portugese Goth Metal Bands" "Michael Myers Resplendent" "Thank You, Mario, But Our Princess is in Another Castle"
An entire album whose song titles are Bible verses, e.g. "Romans 10:9"

Ray Manzarek didn't exactly have a prolific solo career post-Doors. He released two solo albums in 1974-75 (which I enjoyed very much), two albums with his band, Nite City, in 1977-78 (which I also enjoyed very much), and some odd releases here and there. Ray did leave behind a trail of, shall we say, interesting song titles including:
- "Oh Thou Precious Nectar Filled Form (A Little Fart)" - "The Golden Scarab" - "The Moorish Idol"
- "The Whole Thing Started With Rock And Roll Now It's Out Of Control" (also the title of the album)
- "Art Deco Fandango" - "An Organ, A Guitar, And A Chicken Wing"

Even though it's in the running for the worst Floyd track ever, the title of Roger Waters's tape loop mess from Ummagumma is pretty good.
Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict

Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict I love that track! I get so many visuals and images in my mind when I listen to it, which I think is a good thing.

Twenty years ago the "supergroup" Major Organ and the Adding Machine (a bunch of the Elephant 6 collective musicians) released their one and only album. There was one track I always liked--even though the album and the song are mostly messes of sound collages--had quite a title:
"Water Dripping on Bread Makes Bread Taste Not So Tasty."
(Can't explain it, but around 30 seconds, I just love the much-repeated exchange "Congratulations!" "Thank You!")
