What are your favorites BB basslines or some of the ones you think are the best? Nice idea, RS. One of my favourites, if not my favourite, is the jubilant descending figure in the instrumental break and elsewhere on "I'm Waiting For The Day":

One favorite of mine that comes to mind might be cheating, as it wasn't primarily played on bass. It's the left-hand piano part in the coda of "Surf's Up," and I have always thought it was brilliant. Here it is in a demo form, so you can hear it without as many competing sounds. It should be cued up for you at 2:53.

Two that come to mind are "Back Home" (from 15 Big Ones) on which Carl Wilson actually plays bass, and "Johnny Carson" from The Beach Boys Love You, on which I think Brian is playing some kind of Moog synthesizer (I'm not sure on that).

This part always impressed me the most on Surf's Up, I spent days trying to figure out how to play this song like Brian... failed miserably I, too, will keep this thread in mind as I listen to the Boys, but I think Kapitan might have nailed it right off the bat! @robesimo , just in case you missed the post, check this out. At the 7:15 mark Kayla demonstrates the bassline, and at 13:34 she talks more about it.

Is it fair to say that the best period for Beach Boys basslines was, well, 1966? Just on the periphery, though, is one of my favorites: "Let The Wind Blow". To me, a very similar style to the coda of "Surf's Up" but, obviously, played throughout the song.

Joshilyn H has some interesting things to say about electric basses and bassists on BB songs, most notably Al in this video tutorial devoted to "WIGU(TBAM)":

One that might not leap out but I think is pretty cool and well executed: "Angel Come Home." At times it's just very sparse, almost lost in with the kick drum, but other times it incorporates some really cool, smooth runs, and still others, based on just the right octave leap or syncopated note, it adds a funk to things.
