I'm catching up on this series. Watched episodes 3 and 4 this weekend ( Surfer Girl and Little Deuce Coupe). Just bumping the thread, really. If you haven't checked out his videos yet, give it a go! The LDC video elicited a spectacular discussion at EH. Well worth checking out: endlessharmony.boards.net/thread/1585/ldc-album-days-new-squares Looks like I'll need to watch episode 5 (a follow-up LDC episode) before reading that discussion.

Now that I must see! Thanks for the tip. I see now the follow-up episode in question was launched on the same day as the EH thread. There was one exchange between Will C (saltymm) and Adam in the YT Comments below the first LCD episode but everything else came later. I'm astonished by the ears (and the sheer knowledge) of those involved, particularly Joshilyn and Will. Ye gods. Fascinating episode though. It deserves a follow-up of its own.

Cool new (non-Beach Boys related) series Adam announces in this episode: "Beautiful Bombs," investigations of singles released in the rock and roll era that didn't perform well commercially, but that Adam considers great. He says the episodes will be shorter than these album discussions. I'm looking forward to checking it out.

Me too! I'm always intrigued by unearthed gems that went unheard or unnoticed for one reason or other. This is how I sometimes discover "new" favorites.

Another entertaining and informative episode. Great to see JH's web mini-series getting a well-deserved plug!
As for the "doo ron-day ron-day" stuff in "In The Parkin' Lot", it sounds closer to the nonsense syllables in The Shirelles' gorgeous "I Met Him On A Sunday":

The new Pet Squares, on All Summer Long is up. Now we're getting into the albums I like more than those earliest ones.

Adam Marsland released a cool new Pet Squares mini-episode (~20 minutes long) dedicated to investigating whether and how much the Beach Boys performed instrumentally on their records, through the lens of 40 of their top hits.
I suspect that most everyone on this board is aware that contrary to the long-standing narrative, yes, the Beach Boys themselves did indeed play quite a bit of their own music (even though it's also true that session players played a lot of their music, too). But it's always cool to get the truth to a broader audience. (Plus, I just happen to think Adam is very talented, and so it's fun hearing such a good musician discussing my favorite band.)

And playing all those soundalike cues himself! Good to see the members of the "brain trust" getting a plug in the credits. The video is a big success already. And so it should be.

And playing all those soundalike cues himself! Funny, I had wondered briefly as I watched where he got those similar-sounding bits, but hadn't watched the credits. I should have assumed it was him. Very cool stuff.

No idea where to post this so why not here. It's Adam, fronting Cockeyed Ghost and friends, doing his best Elton John impersonation on "Take Me To The Pilot":

A new episode dedicated to Bruce Johnston. Hopefully there's a chapter or two on baseball caps and mic-stand adjustments.
