Hi all
Thanks for the welcomes to the site.
I first found the Beach Boys when my sister borrowed the “Greatest Hits Vol 1” from a friend in the late 60s and I have hooked ever since. I first saw them in Brighton, Sussex in 1969 and (if you take into consideration all the different variations of line up) I reached my 30th concert last year (also at Brighton),
Should have been seeing Brian Wilson this year but (surprise, surprise) it was postponed until next year.
I was lucky enough to see the 50th Anniversary concerts 3 times in 2012 – once in Norway and twice in London.
Here’s to happier times when we can start going to concerts again.
Laurence

Welcome!
You saw them in 1969!? I'd love to hear any of your recollections about that. Very interesting era for the group, including the live shows.

Thanks for the replies. Yes - I was at the 2 London shows at the end of the tour. I saw them in Oslo as it was uncertain if they would play London due to the Olympics but luckily they did! The 1969 concert was good but short compared to what you get today. About 50 minutes only. They had Paul Revere and The Raiders as support. If you are interested the concert that I saw in Brighton was a few days before the Paris concert and that one was filmed as is on YouTube

I'm jealous of the UK 2012 concerts, the RAH show in particular where they had a 61 song setlist. I think they did 48 songs when I saw them in MD. But, it seems like The Beach Boys in recent years have treated UK fans to more lengthy and deeper setlists.

Hi KDS Originally I was just going to the Wembley show but then booked for RAH at the last minute and was so glad I did. The show was far better there than at Wembley (and longer). I was also much closer to the stage. Great stamina - I wonder if some of today's bands will be able to give a 3 hour concert when they are in their 70s! I agree about the UK concerts being longer and more varied. I was lucky enough to go to a "meet and greet" at the RAH and spoke with Mike, Bruce and David (Marks) and they said they liked playing the UK as the audiences often had a deeper knowledge of the back catalogue compared to some US audiences. I don't know if you have ever been to the RAH but it is an amazing venue. I have been fortunate to see a number of concerts there - both pop and classical and it is always a wonderful experience

Even the UK "got" Pet Sounds years before it was regarded a classic album over here. I've never been to the RAH, but that's a place I'd love to see a show one day.

Welcome aboard! I look forward to seeing you posting around here. It's always great to have someone around who saw them in their prime.
