I've been using the Spotify Free version for about a year now. I got rid of Premium late last year in a cost cutting effort ($10 here, $13 there, it really adds up).
But, I'm noticing that every since I switched to a new phone a few weeks ago, the shuffle function doesn't seem to be working probably.
Has anyone else had this issue? If so, can a reset or update fix it? Or is this a case of my getting what I pay for?

Wish I could help, but I don't really use it on my phone: for a while I did when I was in the office, but frankly I didn't ever like how it worked on phones and gave it up. These days when I use Spotify, it's through my laptop.

I tend to use it on my phone when I'm exercising, grilling, or when I have my decompression time out on the deck. That's roughly six hours a week all total, usually no more than an hour at a time. So, I'd hate to pay $10 a month for what accounts to a minor annoyance.
The rest of the time, I listen at work on a PC. That version has more ads, but at least I can listen to full albums. (I did the full VH catalog in a day and a half).

Yeah, it was the full album feature missing from the phone version that led me to skip it. Back when I was in the office, lacking that ability actually led me to just listen to podcasts instead.
The desktop version is definitely superior for that reason, but the ad breaks are certainly annoying (repetitive and loud!). I get that if I'm using it for free, that comes with the territory.

I'm OK with the ads since I have control of what I'm listening to. But, since I started on the mobile version three years ago, I have put together several playlists. Until recently, I could listen on shuffle, and I was fine. But, the last two weeks or so, I'm hearing the same songs. It seems to have coincided with my switch to a new phone, so I might try to uninstall and reinstall.

This morning, Spotify offered their summer special - three months of Premium for $9.99, and I jumped on it.
When I'd listen on my phone, I used to get 30 mins ad free music, then the option to listen to a 30 second ad for 30 more minutes of ad free music. But, in the last two weeks, I no longer had the option for the second half hour, and I started getting 3-4 ads every two or three songs.
So, you win Spotify!

Why does Spotify do their year end wrap ups on Dec 1? Wouldn't it be better to get your listening stats for the full year?
Also, apparently, I listened more than 95% of subscribers. That's thanks to listening at work.

Spotify did their "Year End" Wrap Up bit.
Funny thing is my most played song wound up being The Who's Love Ain't For Keeping, which is typically picked by their algorhythm after the completion of an album I've listened to.
I guess we did our Springsteen thread this year. He was, somewhat surprisingly, my second most listened to artist.
