I would be open to a 60th Anniversary / Final Tour with all the surviving Beach Boys. I know that Brian and Mike's vocals have each deteriorated quite a bit since 2012, but I think it would be a nice way to close the book on the band. I suppose if the reunited BBs performed within an hour of me, and the ticket prices were somewhat reasonable (unlikely!), I'd go. But only because it would be the first and last time seeing them together. Then they should actually close the book. Sail off into the sunset. A studio album was really my preference, not a tour. I'm not sure if they have anything as good as TWGMTR left in the tank. That album, the last three songs in particular, are about as good to an end to a studio career as you can ask for. Also, purely selfish for me, I met my wife at the beginning of fall 2012, a few months after seeing the C50 tour. She and I are both big BB fans, and we've attended several Brian, Mike & Bruce, and Al shows over the years, but I'd love for us to be able to attend a full on Beach Boys show together.

A studio album was really my preference, not a tour. Same here. More flexibility to ensure quality product. Admittedly for many people, less of an emotional moment to listen on "tape" rather than be in the same venue in person, but not me. At least I don't think so. Having never seen the Beach Boys together, I guess I can't say. I've only seen three at a time: Brian, Al, and David once; and Brian, Al, and Blondie once.

That subhead is glorious in its ongoing accuracy, valid for so many situations.
"Al Jardine says a tour is in the works, but Mike Love and Brian Wilson say it’s far from confirmed"

Yeah, typical Al. He goes from saying it won't really be a tour, then mentions the possibility of playing 10-20 places. So, that's not...a tour?
I think they are a long way from ironing things out because there's so many variables, probably more now than ever. However, I also know that things can be worked out in a hurry. Once the olive branch is extended - and accepted - things can move at a very fast pace because of the $$$$$$$$$$$.
I am sincerely curious as to how mortality is affecting their individual thought processes. We fans only read the increasing "rock star" obituaries from a far, but these guys knew, worked with, and still had relationships with many of them. I wonder if Brian, Mike, Al, Bruce, and David will allow their emotions to take over - however strong (or not) they are - and do it again, one last time.

In BB Land, nothing would really surprise me. Except that so many fans on the BB Web World seem to be against a reunion. Sure, there's no way it would be as good as 2012. Both Mike and Brian's vocals have noticeably declined since then. But, I'd like to see the Boys take one last victory lap.

It certainly seems like if it were up to Al the BBs would reunite! (I get the sense that it's not up to Al and he's been getting ahead of himself...repeatedly...with these pronouncements.)

He always seems to be in this position. Makes sense, though: he can't tour as The Beach Boys. He isn't a big draw on his own, and so he's been going out as "Brian Wilson, feat. ..." or on his little semi-acoustic storytellers shows (back when live shows were happening). From his perspective, I'm sure being The Beach Boys is just the best position to be in. Presumably the best payday, too.

Good old Al, out there trying to keep hope alive for a reunion. That really would be great to see assuming we can go to crowded concerts again next year.

While I'm not enamored with the prospect of tribute concerts (which Al talks about as if it's a slam dunk), hey, at this point I'll take anything and undoubtedly would purchase tickets. It would serve to lessen the load on The Beach Boys. The guest artists could/would fill up half the concert with selected songs, and the The Boys would fill in the gaps for the second half. I could also see a very full stage for the encore(s).

I could also see a very full stage for the encore(s). I think the tribute concert(s) idea is only going to become more likely as time goes on, because the ability of the principals to carry the load will only ever diminish. "Next year" will always be a worse option than "now." Rigorous tours of long shows are probably already out of the question for Brian, who has already long-since been a partial participant even in his own shows. The others, while doing better, aren't 25 years old (or 50, or even 75).
It will have to be fewer shows, and shorter shows, for them.
My guess is the tributes will be handled somewhat like the Wilson one was, meaning it'll be the Beach Boys' backing band on stage the whole time with a rotating cast of primarily singers, with a few instrumentalists worked in here and there. And then they'll do a short set with the main guys. Brian will do one of his leads, Al will get one (probably Rhonda), and Mike will handle most.
What would be interesting is, if that were the route they went, would they invite Blondie to participate, and if so, where would he fit in? Guest performer in front of the group, or member with a showcase tune? Or kind of in-between, coming out with the group and kicking off that set with "Sail On, Sailor" or something before fading into the background?
