All joking aside, I agree 100%, especially since I'm part of that generation that was first exposed to The Beach Boys via Full House. I would be fine with Stamos taking part in a live show. I know he appeared at a couple of the C50 shows. The way I see it, their final farewell should be about accepting and celebrating all the things the Beach Boys are, and that means taking the cheese with the... metaphorical opposite of cheese (I've only had 3 coffees this morning and my brain is STILL waking up, lol). So give me the cheerleaders, give me Stamos, give me Surf's Up, give me a mini Pet Sounds set, give me the Carl and Dennis tributes, and give me Mike's goofy antics. I'll take all of it, the full Beach Boys spectrum. Cheerleaders? Stamos? There's a legacy to protect.

While it wouldn't be necessary (and I wouldn't recommend it) for Stamos to play a whole concert, I have no problem with him being introduced by Mike, getting a nice reception from the audience, and playing the drums on a song, maybe even "Forever" - and maybe have him sing the lead vocal on it. He could even return for "Fun, Fun, Fun" at the end somewhere in the back or on the side.
If they have a concert or concerts, are the video tributes to Carl and Dennis something to revisit?

If it were to happen as a farewell event, I can't imagine them not doing something along those lines. Whether it's the identical songs and setup or some other kind of tribute, I would think they'd find a way to feature Dennis and Carl both.

Well, if Stamos has to be there, might as well invite the rest of his tv family. The Olsen twins could insert "you got it dude" into the encore of Barbara Ann.

That's a general overview with some accurate comments and historical report but no new news whatsoever.
Al said 20 or 30 shows come and now he says a little show or two. What in the world is going on

What in the world is going on It's just content meant to get clicks. It worked. Most stories, I'd argue, have little to no new news whatsoever.
As for Al, Al talks. Some of it is true. Who knows? Nothing new about that, though.
I would add that "maybe ... for a little show or two" doesn't sound like it is meant to be taken literally. It's the "aw shucks" reaction that happens all the time, like the former major leaguer saying "yeah, I used to play a little ball." A little show or two? It's the fucking Beach Boys. Obviously, if they get together, they aren't going to get together for "a little show or two." Nobody would think so, and there's no way that's what Al meant.
Literally speaking, little is out of the question. What, are they going to play a 100-capacity club and call it a career? The "one or two" part, maybe (though, while I probably favor it, I doubt it). But if so, it would either be in a great-sounding theater with a professional crew to record it, after which it would be sold, or in the likes of Wembley Stadium or the Hollywood Bowl, with a professional crew to record it, after which it would be sold. I doubt they're going to do a pair of reunion shows at the Nomad in Minneapolis.

What in the world is going on I simply posted because it's recent and is in the spirit of the thread. I did find it interesting that the writer called the Postcard album "recent."

So, to recap:
Al: We're definitely getting together for 20-30 shows. It's gonna be totally rad! Mike: Well, we might do something...maybe...but I haven't spoken to Al about it. Brian: Reunion? What reunion? Al: Okay, so we're gonna do a little show or two.

With Salty's report that Brian and Al weren't interested in a 60th anniversary studio album, I no longer have any interest in this reunion whatsoever. I suspect they don't want to work with Mike, but I also suspect they just haven't been writing and don't have any interest in recording either way. Whatever it is, it just reminds me that the Beach Boys, as a creative entity and recording artists, haven't really existed for nearly 25 years and I kinda wish they just admit it once and for all, so we can all just solely focus on archival releases and perhaps catch whatever former members/tribute bands that come into town.

I agree.
The only way I could be interested is through a series of counterfactuals. "Well maybe if they thought ... and then they'd do ... and maybe in that case, they would..." But none of those is true. Or will be true. And what's worse, every year that passes without them working, any work they would be capable of would probably be worse for it.
They're now over 6 months into what is likely to be at least a year-long hiatus from doing much of anything live. And on the other side, what will we have? Some 80-year-old Beach Boys who didn't like one another before and sure don't seem to now.
"It's over now..." (but shades of blue and purple don't haunt me).

I would be open to a 60th Anniversary / Final Tour with all the surviving Beach Boys. I know that Brian and Mike's vocals have each deteriorated quite a bit since 2012, but I think it would be a nice way to close the book on the band.

Haha! I very nearly posted a link to "It's Over Now". It really was the first thing that popped in my head when I read Salty's post. I've never really thought about it from this (emotional) perspective, but being that I'm still bummed by the news, I can't help but think for this group to reunite would be like our acrimonious divorced parents getting together every ten years to celebrate their anniversary. What's the point?

I suppose if the reunited BBs performed within an hour of me, and the ticket prices were somewhat reasonable (unlikely!), I'd go. But only because it would be the first and last time seeing them together. Then they should actually close the book. Sail off into the sunset. A studio album was really my preference, not a tour.
