Dearie me, this topic has been languishing for almost a year! Last week we watched the first episode of the new BBC series The Pursuit of Love but left it at that. It was great to see Andrew "Jim Moriarty" Scott though, particularly in this cool dance sequence with music by T. Rex. This is dedicated to bellbottoms, the previous poster in this thread, hoping she is doing well. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dandy_in_the_Underworld

Hey wassup jk. I really like music in films & TV. Favorite TV themes: "Spellbinder"/"Spellbinder:Land Of Dragon Lord". Favorite songs in films: Blue Oyster gay club theme in "Police Academy" (joyful). "Police Academy" franchise main song (ditto). "Citizens On Patrol" (rap song by Michael Winslow in end credits to "Police Academy-4"). Then music by many Hitchcock film composers, Leonard Bernstein's music in "To Kill Mockingbird" & "My Left Foot" (2 great films with Oskar wins, check out them who didn't yet). Hi zz. Two recent films we watched with fantastic music are The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (Ennio Morricone) and Taxi Driver (Bernard Herrmann's final film score, I believe). Fabulous OSTs both. I have yet to see Mockingbird and Foot. Thanks for the tip(s). B. Herrmann's music for all those Hitchcock films (most notably Vertigo) is in a class of its own.

Welcome, you'll like each film.👍 See bird lady ("Home Alone-2") playing many-children-mother ("Foot"), it'll amaze, in case you didn't think you'd see her in anything except HA-2. Actually I like it best in "Psycho". I find "Vertigo" lesser Hitch film. I'm sure I've seen the original Home Alone but not #2. I can't think of a Hitchcock movie I didn't enjoy. They all have something. All a matter of taste, of course, at the end of the day. Psycho is certainly very cool...

Psycho is certainly very cool... I tend to like sequels ("Police Academy-2", "Home Alone-2", "Terminator-2", "Indiana Jones-2", "Back To The Future-2" blah blah). You must see HA-2.👍 Kevin's attitude's cooler than initial film towards parents/siblings/cheapskate uncle. I like it about it. Besides funner/cooler/super adventures. Did you see "Paradine Case"? It's def agreed that Hitchcock is mainly great but "Paradine Case" - which I seen like this week - is really dull. You'd be surprised by its meek "crime drama" narrative. "Vertigo" is thrillfest against it. Plus James Stewart is less annoying to this spectator than Gregory Peck. Eek. I never got round to answering this. Sorry, zz... er, I mean, my apologies. If I did watch it must have been decades ago -- the plot doesn't ring a bell (nor does the trailer). I wouldn't rule it out though. I see TPC had a troubled history ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Paradine_Case)... Vertigo is a film that requires more than one viewing. I've watched it once so far and there is a lot to take in. An incredible amount of ink has been spilled on the subject over the years. It's a long sit but I intend to give it another go soon, maybe next weekend. Oh, and I probably agree with you about Terminator 2 -- I saw it before I saw the original Terminator and thought it was super. It also has a element of humour, something the first one lacked. Another great "sequel" I watched was Aliens (I have yet to see Alien).

Kapitan (or anyone else, come to that), have you seen Zappa yet? We watched it on Dutch TV the other day. It's full of the most fantastic old footage. The most touching moment is when Frank arrives in Czechoslovakia. He can't believe the reception the Czechs are giving him! Possibly the most affecting (and affected) interviewee is Ruth Underwood, who at one point breaks down. What a beautiful human being.

I loved it, and could have watched 10 times as much footage.
