One of the products of the Beach Boys' 50 Anniversary Celebration (C50), Doin It Again could have been the be all / end all Beach Boys documentary, with Brian, Mike, Al, Bruce, and David all together to tell the full half century story of one of the great bands in history. Unfortunately, this falls way short, and Endless Harmony still stands as the definitive Beach Boys documentary.
Instead, Doin' It Again, is basically an EPK (Electronic Press Kit) for the Tour and TWGMTR album. Running at just under an hour, it includes five full songs from the C50 Tour sprinkled in a documentary which is part BB history, part hype for the reunion and new album. One of the perks is great footage from the Good Vibrations sessions.
I find this release enjoyable, but in could have.....no should have .....been so so much more. But, in true Beach Boys fashion, to borrow a baseball analogy from Brother Carl, they left several runners stranded in scoring position.
This release was also quite misleading. The DVD case doesn't really tell you what it is, nor is there a runtime on the back.
Fun fact, the DVD was included on some later European pressings of TWGMTR.

Fun fact, the DVD was included on some later European pressings of TWGMTR. That's what should have been the case everywhere. You're exactly right in that it's an EPK. An extended EPK. I recall some EPKs being in the 10-15 minute range in the mid-00s. (I think Brian's Xmas album was in that ballpark, though I could be wrong.) This isn't much more. It's certainly not a real documentary, and it's not quite a concert film either. It's a few cool things that whet the appetite for more.
i.e., it's an EPK.
