Any fans of Marianne Faithfull out there? I just started to research her life and career through internet articles, interviews, and YouTube videos. She had some tragic and turbulent years, but she made it through and is definitely a survivor. As I came across the various photographs of her through the years or heard the occasional songs, I always thought that she was still struggling with addiction. In reality, Marianne took her last dose of heroin in 1985 and has been clean ever since. Her main vice and the biggest reason for her low, raspy voice has been heavy cigarette smoking. She has also suffered from hepatitis C and survived breast cancer. I also thought that she wasn't very active or productive after her years (1966-1970) as Mick Jagger's girlfriend, but she has had an acting career and released several albums; her last one, Negative Capability, was released in 2018. Marianne Faithfull will always be known for her beauty, her 1964 hit "As Tears Go By", her life with Jagger and The Rolling Stones, and her substance abuse which ultimately led to a suicide attempt. But, Marianne has always been very open about her life. She's written three books and there's been several documentaries made about her life. Yet, Marianne has said, "There's not a nostalgic bone in my body", and she prefers to live for today, in the moment.
This is an excellent documentary:

I've never been a fan but I did see an excellent documentary about her not so long ago.

Coincidentally this had just finished playing on my iTunes shuffle (Stones version) when I saw your post of this, so I happened to listen to them back-to-back.
