So, the Grammys can't nominate five artists based on the same criteria. Awesome! Let's put them in charge of a "best final albums" list immediately. They seem fully qualified.

Maybe the writers of that article are former voters. It's unusual because the lists on Ultimate Classic Rock are usually a lot more consistent.

Dredging up this old thread for one that's really grinded my gears recently. I've probably ranted about this before, but it feels apt here.
"(Current Version of Band X) is a cover band."
We're no stranger to this in Beach Boys land, with the Mike and Bruce Beach Boys often labelled a cover band or tribute band by some of the more cynical members of the fanbase. But, it's pretty common for bands who are missing key members. Which, with very, very few exceptions is pretty much all of them at this point.
I happened to pull up an article about Deep Purple, who recently announced Simon McBride as their new permanent guitarist. They were saying that their next album might have a bit of a harder edge. Most of the comments covered similar ground.
"Call the band something else at this point."
"Purple's been over since Blackmore left."
"Who needs new music from these guys?"
"Deep Purple are a cover band at this point."
Deep Purple over a 50+ year history has always had a fairly fluid lineup. Not to mention the current version of the band has Ian Gillan, Ian Paice, and Roger Glover - three of the five members of the MKII lineup, which is widely considered the "classic" lineup.
This speaks to the self entitled nature of fandom in general, which I find a bit ridiculous. As a fan, we can always stop following a band / artist. I've done that with a few either because I haven't liked recent material, or due to missing key members (Bon Jovi checks both boxes). But, I think it's silly to declare them a "cover band" because they don't meet my criteria. If they want to tour and / or release music under that banner, let them. It's not my place to say they can/can't.
