Here is one that isn't exactly a hit record, but I've always loved it.

And something completely different: almost disco beat, wah-wah guitar and synth lead line, cool chorus from a band that had a nice little run in the first half of the 00s.

This (on the face of it) unlikely candidate comes from The Future Sound of London's 1996 album Dead Cities. The first part of "Her Face Forms In Summertime" features some of the most gorgeous guitar sounds I've ever heard:
