Is this the origin of that little intro figure? At least the I-I-I-ii-#ii-III seems to be all over music (not sure about the previous figure, repeated in octaves).

Just meant the notes in the figure, root (repeated), second, sharp second, major third.* I recognized it from Smile, just wondered if this 12th Street Rag was the first time it was used or if it was a standard little figure. I know I've heard it a million times over the years, it seems.
*I shouldn't have tried to assign the values within a key since I didnt' even compare the figure to the song's key! But Bb (repeated), C, C#, D.
