I only said it as a play on the cliche about the 1920s. Are people actually saying it more broadly? I don't even know what I'd want it to mean in reality. People are posting pictures of themselves in zoot suits and flapper dresses, with the hashtag Roaring20s. And this is why I don't use social media. Less to be annoyed by.

I know what you mean. I see that mentality in other people--"dad, why do you care how that guy wears his hair?"--but definitely increasingly notice it in myself, as well. Which is why I say, I think it's probably just a middle-age thing. And at 43 now, I can't help but admit I'm firmly in that territory.
When I catch myself, I try to lighten up. (But again, the absence from social media helps!)

For me, the pros of social media outweigh the cons. Plus, I get a lot of music news on my Facebook feed.
I suspect I was born middle aged. As I finished high school in the late 90s, I remember being annoyed that so many of my friends were bleaching their hair blond. I've actually gotten better since then believe it or not.

First day back in the office and, five hours into the day, I’m ready for a nap! Seems I’ve temporarily lost the ability to function like a productive human adult after some time off over the holidays.
I’m sure glad it’s only a 2-day week!

Seems I’ve temporarily lost the ability to function like a productive human adult after some time off over the holidays. I’m sure glad it’s only a 2-day week! I hear you. I did have to work right after Christmas, but since my wife is a teacher, she had off, so I didn't need to take the little one to daycare. Getting a chance to sleep in an extra hour makes a world of difference. I feel like I've been in a fog all day.

For me, getting up wasn’t so much the issue (and usually isn’t), but after a break/vacation I find I lack the stamina to focus all day. My mind & body apparently adjust quickly to leisure, so by noon on the first day back, I’m struggling to believe the day’s not over yet.

Add me to the list. I just got home from work with a splitting headache. Took two Excedrin. I hate signing on to my computer home page because of all the tragedies in just the last day or two:
- Former NBA Commissioner, David Stern, died at age 77 - Former Yankee who pitched a perfect game in the 1956 World Series, Don Larsen, died at age 90 - Whitney Houston's daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown's boyfriend, Nick Gordon, died at age 30 of a heroin overdose - What a tragedy that is; all three of them dead due to drugs
- Captain America actress, Mollie Fitzgerald, 38, was arrested on Christmas Eve for fatally stabbing her mother - Rapper Lexii Alijai passed away at age 21; no cause of death announced yet
- Democratic Representative John Lewis announced that he is battling Stage 4 pancreatic cancer - Former Heavyweight Boxing Champion Leon Spinks was diagnosed with prostate cancer that spread to his bladder
And now I just saw that former player/coach Sam Wyche passed away at age 74 from metastatic melanoma
Again, wishing everybody a safe and healthy year ahead.

Some of those, I knew, others I'm just learning from you now, like Sam Wyche. Underrated coach in the Bill Walsh family tree. (Not a great one, but a solid and innovative one.)
Re Lexii Alijai, she was a local talent (from St. Paul, just across the river here). I admit I'd never heard of her before, but apparently she was viewed as a real up-and-coming talent. Whatever the cause, 21 is too young.

I really hope things don't escalate further after the U.S. assassinated a high-ranking Iranian military official in Iraq last night.

Am I the last one here to take down the Christmas decorations? It seems like all my friends, relatives, and most of the stores have already done it? I still see a few scattered lights driving around at night. This year has to be the fastest transition from Christmas to...normal...I can ever remember. Even the temperatures here in central Pennsylvania have crept up near 50 degrees the last few days (I'm not complaining about that!). I guess tonight or tomorrow I'll start putting things away, but not everything. I mean, it seems like I just carried everything up from the basement. I'm too lazy to carry it all back down there yet. I want to milk it a little bit longer.

Taking down Christmas stuff is my project for the weekend. As much as I love Christmas, I'm usually ready to move on once the calendar flips.

I want to milk it a little bit longer. We still have ours up, and the plan is to keep them up until next weekend. It was a hectic season for us, and we were out of town from Dec 25-30, so it doesn't even really feel like we had a proper Christmas. So I'm squeezing every last drop out of it this season! Maybe I'll even put on a Christmas record later.
