My degree didn't entirely go to waste, then!

Brian and Gary Usher in 1986. It's too bad more didn't come out of that collaboration the second time around. They set quite the standard in 1962-63 with "409", "Lonely Sea", and "In My Room"

Not on par with those 60s gems, but I'll defend Let's Go to Heaven in My Car. I think its better than 1/3 of BW '88 and the BW '88 outtake turned BB song In My Car.

This looks like 1965 or 1966. What song would've Dennis been singing?

A rare photo of Dennis (with a graying beard?) and Shawn (with interesting shirt). Shawn was born on December 30, 1964, about a week after Brian's "breakdown" on the airplane trip to Houston. Sadly, Shawn died in September 2003 at the young age of 38 of liver cancer. There are several tragedies and early deaths in the Beach Boys' story, but Shawn's is rarely mentioned.

I stumbled across this photo of Leon Russell (on the left) with Gary Lewis. Leon wrote, arranged, and played on some of Gary Lewis & The Playboys' biggest hits. I find those early photos of Leon fascinating. He certainly changed his image through the years.

A rare photo from 1978 with Stan and Rocky... in action:

Anaheim in 1975. Brian looks like a giant! Is that Marilyn behind Brian to his left? Annie Wilson was there. Is that Ron Altbach holding a hat? Dennis. Anybody else? That must've been thrilling - and slightly off-putting - seeing Brian there.

Bobby Figueroa in the white suit near the end, with his hand in his long, dark hair? Looks like him or Ricky Fataar, but if this is '75, Fataar was already gone, right?

Can't say that's my favorite look of theirs. (You couldn't pay me to wear what Carl's wearing - sorry!)

Sort of a cross between Elvis's suits of the '70s and a Gram Parsons look. Very mid-70s. I remember seeing a lot of my parents' album covers of the (pop) country, gospel, and folkish music of that era and seeing a lot of similar looks.

Maybe it's common knowledge, but I've noticed a Beach Boys-associated Twitter account that posts a lot of cool pics (as well as other things).
