Very unexpected, Nick Walusko / Nicky Wonder passed away last night, per Brian Wilson's Facebook page.
One wonders about whether the shows will go on, at least in the near term, though that's a secondary concern obviously to those personally impacted. So sad. One of the few guys who has been with Brian nonstop for the entirety of his solo touring career. (I think he and Probyn are the only two?)

Very sad news. Nicky was only 59 years old. Too young...

That's really sad to hear, especially considering this happened the night before the tour starts back up. I wonder if he had a heart attack, or some underlying ailment. We probably won't find out, not that it really matters. It'll be interesting to hear who takes over his parts, or if they go out and bring in someone new in the coming weeks.

I saw this very nice remembrance of Walusko that goes beyond just pasting Brian's Facebook message. The author knew Nick and has some touching (and funny) memories.

I was reminded by an email from Adam Marsland that it has been one year since Nick Walusko passed away. I learned that there is a GoFundMe page set up to complete and release Nick's long-gestating solo album, which you can visit at gf.me/u/ynkmmu
Adam also shared a YouTube video of his old band Cockeyed Ghost playing a Monkees song with Nick and Darian Sahanaja sitting in. The performance dates to 1995.

I should add, here are some notes from that GoFundMe page on the plan for the solo album.
"A team of industry professionals that include friends are providing guidance with completing the songs, getting them mixed, covering the legal aspects for release, completing the artwork, and researching the best plan for release. Some of Nick’s uncompleted songs are being developed by using his notes, vocal recordings, and demos, as well as ideas driven by those with an understanding of what Nick would have wanted."
Considering Nick's associates and friends in the industry, one can imagine the results being pretty wonderful.
