A tribute album for a brand new album? What a bizarre concept! It smacks of desperation to me. Meanwhile, fans continue to clamor for archive editions of London Town and Back to the Egg - the final Wings albums; an era Paul doesn't like to revisit. In some respects, I can understand that. Probably reminds him of Jimmy McCulloch's death, and bickering with Denny Laine. They've archived all the other Wings albums, though, seems the logical move would be to complete the cycle. I'm sure those massive reissues are forthcoming. Granted, I think Flaming Pie is Paul's last good album, but if that album warrants a boxset, then surely the Wings material does. One Macca expert says the next archive set is going to be the Unplugged album. Others are speculating Off the Ground. Still others say the series has run its course. People are buying physical product anymore.

I might be interested in an Unplugged reissue. Far less so on Off the Ground.

Believe it or not, I don’t have Unplugged in my collection. What’s more is I don’t think I’ve ever heard it. A few tracks, yeah, but not the whole thing.
I just read that it was the first of that series. If true, that’s pretty cool.

I don't have Unplugged either, but I'm hardly a McCartney completist. I think it's out of print.

Did Paul have "some Work" done on his face? I'm still struggling with the gray hair. He's morphing into John Mellencamp!

Did Paul have "some Work" done on his face? I'm still struggling with the gray hair. Probably. But count me as one who wishes almost nobody would have work done: I'm all for people looking their age. Healthy, sure. But even excessive makeup turns me off. Not much depresses me more than seeing (for example) young women--20s and 30s!--who clearly have had lip injections or something. What's wrong with looking like a human being?

I'm kinda glad he's letting the gray win again. He started going gray back in the late 80s, but started to color his hair about 20 years ago.

Lots going on with Paul lately: his new album, then the tribute/reimagining of that album, the Ram 50th anniversary, the Ram tribute, this board discussing Ram, and now a six-part documentary series of discussions with Rick Rubin about his work.
Reading the description, it strikes me as the kind of thing that could be heaven sent, or it could be an annoying commercial in which he says the same things he's said a thousand times before. Guess we'll find out in a couple months on Hulu.
(This is precisely what Iconic should be doing with the Beach Boys, by the way...only instead of six, more like sixteen-, or sixty-part!)

Looks like I'll be reupping my Hulu account in a couple months.
I was eventually going to have to do that anyway if Season 3 of The Orville ever airs.

I think I’m developing an obsession for “Women and Wives”. I’ve been listening to it a few times a day lately. I have no idea why. There’s not all that much to it. But apparently it’s just right ? Anyway, I’m glad to suddenly be listening to and enjoying some McCartney III again. (I had moved on for a while there...as one naturally does.)

I remember him looking rather jowly at the time of Flowers in the Dirt and his first solo tour. Then when Off the Ground came out, suddenly he almost looked like Beatle Paul or at least Wing Paul again. Then, after Linda died, his age really started showing. I'm glad he let the gray come back. That hair dye look of the 00's/10's really did him no favors.

It seems Paul forgot about the interior of the country and is instead just looping around it like a giant U. (He could have at least made a giant O, which might have come near me...)
Of course, he's been here before and I've never gone, so that's on me. In hindsight, I wish I'd seen him maybe 15 years ago or so, when he was still closer to the top of his game. (I'd go back further, but let's be honest, I didn't have the money for tickets if you go back 20 or more years.) Now as he's up there in years, I regret it somewhat. Of his approximate generation, I've seen Brian Wilson (including Al, Blondie, and David at different times), Al Jardine solo, Paul Simon, Stevie Wonder, Robert Plant and Jimmy Page, Van Dyke Parks...that's it, I think. (I also saw Prince several times and U2 once, but they'd be the next generation.)
After that, I think overwhelmingly I've seen artists whose heydays were from the late 90s through the mid 00s. Which, of course, is roughly what you'd guess for somebody my age. But still, it would be good to catch Sir Paul.
