Does anyone know whether YouTuber "Giggens" is on any of the BBs boards? I ask because after I saw, watched, and posted his review of Looking Back With Love, a few other BBs-related reviews were recommended to me. I perused his listing of videos and something like 16 BBs-related videos in the past three months: probably between a fifth and a quarter of his total posting in that time frame. Some are album reviews, some are things like "Top 5 Beach Boys Albums for a New Fan."
I've still only watched the one ML review/video. But I'm going to give a few others a shot, too. Just wondering if someone that interested was a part of the community elsewhere.

I wondered the same thing when I first started following his channel a year or two ago. I think he's a member at SSMB but only posted a few times years back. Based on watching his videos, I know he reads some of the boards for research/fun, but I don't think he posts (maybe at SHF? I'm not a member there). Just a guess, though. I get the impression that that's what his youtube channel is for - it's his own community. He is predominantly a BBs channel. He's also a big Beatles fan.

From earlier this month, Matthew Sweet on Brian Wilson's "Til I Die" as part of American Songwriter's "Great Songwriters on Great Songwriters" series.
I have to admit, the idea of this is better than anything in the brief interview. But here it is.

And per the above, here is a link to that Love You episode. I haven't listened yet, but am about to. (And as always, remember it's comedy first, not real music criticism.)
I consider myself to have succeeded, because on the current episode of this (about POD, for chrissakes), Garrett just said "gosh darn."
Tim: "You know, I notice you said 'gosh darn,' Garrett, and now all I can think of is 'honkin' down the gosh-darn highway.'"
Garrett: "I've asked you to stop bringing that up."
Tim: "You brought it up."
Garrett: (talks, doesn't matter)
Tim (singing): "Honkin', honkin' down the gosh-darn highway." God, I love that album!"

From Brian Wilson's official website: Next Tuesday at 12:00 Noon PST, Brian will be answering your questions LIVE on Facebook. We’ll create a Post at Noon – please type your questions in the “Comments” field and we’ll get to as many as we can. Brian said he’s looking forward to “hanging out” with his fans. See you then!Shall I provide his answers now?
"I want to share love."
"I wrote that one with [name] very quickly. We wrote it in 10 minutes!"
"That's a very spiritual song."
I took a peak at the comments section at 12 PST. A lot of fans really want to know what kind of sandwich Brian likes.

I completely forgot. Just read the facebook post and they say there will be a complete transcript and audio file of the Q&A within the week. I'll wait for that.

Yeah that was very very meh. No live video, 30 minutes, 30 answers or so each being one sentence only. But that's what is expected from Brian to be honest Definitely: especially in the traditional "ask-him-a-question" format that fans and most interviewers use. Every so often he gets talking and is really interesting, but 95/100 times, it's just a waste of time.
I'm tentatively hopeful that the "new" (though done for, what, two or three years already by now?) doc Long Promised Road will be good in that respect. It had been described at one point as a lot of Brian and the interviewer driving around, chatting, and Brian opening up. So I hope that's true, that he is talkative.

Brian on Feel Flows: "Feel Flows I don't know about that." And people STILL believe that Brian is involved in the projects, happenings, and decisions regarding his career, Beach Boys and/or solo.

Brian on Feel Flows: "Feel Flows I don't know about that." And people STILL believe that Brian is involved in the projects, happenings, and decisions regarding his career, Beach Boys and/or solo. I don't doubt that Brian-the-Entity has had input all along, that Brian-the-Entity has had the opportunity to see track listings, hear mixes, sign off on everything. But even just in normal course of business, I can point to dozens or hundreds of examples where higher-ups (VPs, etc.) in my company had never heard of, much less written, things "they've" written or signed. (I can do this because I'm the one who writes them, signs them.)
For this kind of project, a nearly 80-year-old man with a history of various problems? Uh, however important it might be to many fans, I'm doubting it's high on his list of priorities. I'm doubting he gives a crap either way: just another hits and rarities project for him, most likely.

Yeah, I've never thought any of the principles had much involvement in archival releases. Particularly, Brian. Having not seen the question or the rest of the Q&A though, I'm not dismissing that he just didn't want to discuss it/had nothing to share. Equating a Beach Boys archival release with a solo studio album or something, though, is a stretch.

Equating a Beach Boys archival release with a solo studio album or something, though, is a stretch. Oh absolutely. I agree entirely that he'd be more engaged in a solo project. There is a spectrum of involvement, after all, and while I don't think that Brian brings some kind of completed vision in his head and doles out parts to accomplish brilliance like "Runaway Dancer"--and Brian himself says as much, to say nothing of others who work with him--I do think he's still much more invested in that stuff. How much? I dunno. Different amounts for different things, I would guess. But just because the days of the auteur are gone and he probably doesn't give a rat's ass about compilations, I definitely would not say he's uninvolved in solo studio projects.
