Now, Rick Wright. Jeez...
WOW I'll say of the core five members of Floyd, Wright is probably the one whose personal life I know the least about. But, WOW.

An opinion piece in the Jerusalem Post finds Roger Waters' complaints of being "banned" from the Pink Floyd website by David Gilmour to be ironic projections, considering his constant and vocal support of BDS of Israel.

That's something I really didn't consider, probably because I tend to ignore Roger when he rambles too much about politics, but Gilmour probably doesn't want the Floyd sites and social media pages to devolve into politics.

Maybe in somewhat of a response to Roger, the Pink Floyd Facebook page has been posting playlist with a 1968 publicity shot of all five Floyd members, and I think even a hashtag, "Syd, Roger, Rick, Nick, and David."

A new song from David Gilmour:
I've listened a couple times. It's not bad. I'll be interested to see if the song has a proper landing spot.

I thought the Floyd fans on the board might be interested to see that today, Pink Floyd's Meddle is the featured album in Pitchfork's Sunday "classic album" review series. (Each Sunday, they feature one classic album that isn't already reviewed in their archives.)

Just as I had hoped, the 1988 Floyd concert film - Delicate Sound of Thunder - is finally getting a standalone DVD / BluRay release. It was first made available only on the expansive and expensive Later Years Box Set. ultimateclassicrock.com/pink-floyd-delicate-sound-of-thunder-reissue/Now, if somebody can convince the guys to release some of the goodies from The Early Years box as a standalone release. And maybe, finally after 40 years, a Wall concert.

I just stumbled across this article about Roger Waters' comeback tour in 1999. I was a freshman in college, and was pretty deep in my exploration of Floyd that began in late 1996. By early 1999, it had been nearly five years since anything come from the Floyd camp, and even longer for Roger, who hadn't toured since 1987. I was beginning to wonder if I'd get the chance to hear any of his marvelous catalog I'd discovered in person. Then, BOOM, a Waters tour, and a show in Baltimore!!! ultimateclassicrock.com/roger-waters-snowy-white/

A new documentary on the band's trajectory was recently released and it's available n YouTube! It contains some rare footage and interviews from 1965 - 1985. Highly recommend it! I'll definitely check this out. Thank you.

I guess the Early Years Box Set didn't set the world on fire, as they're slowly starting to roll out separate releases from the content on the box. Their 1988 live film, Delicate Sound of Thunder recently got a stand alone release, and now we're getting Live at Knebworth 1990, which is not a full concert, but Floyd's seven song set at the Knebworth Festival. ultimateclassicrock.com/pink-floyd-live-at-knebworth-1990-album/I suppose it won't be long before they do a stand alone release of the remixed A Momentary Lapse of Reason. Meanwhile, concert films from The Wall tour sit in the vaults.

Well, that's sad. Fans always hold out for as long as they can for some kind of reunion, or at the very least for the band members to just get along and be civil to each other. It almost appears that the latter would be difficult for these guys. Sheesh...
Back to Pink Floyd video for a second...I'm still waiting for the definitive, comprehensive Syd Barrett biography/documentary to be made. But, even with that, they better hurry because several key people who could provide valuable contributions are not going to be available much longer. Quite a few have already passed on.

I never expected a reunion, but it did seem like the ice was thawing in recent years with Gilmour and Mason guesting at Roger's shows on occasion and Waters with Mason two years ago. But, I guess old grudges die hard. As for a Syd doc, this is pretty good. And the BBC did one around 2006 on Floyd's career that's on YouTube. www.amazon.com/Pink-Floyd-Syd-Barrett-Story/dp/B07QNZRHTQ/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=syd+barrett&qid=1615485400&s=movies-tv&sr=1-2
