If/when the Beach Boys would be announced as an act for most festivals, I'm sure that there would be a number of people, maybe a fairly large number of people who would be skeptical and probably make jokes (mostly about their ages). But, don't The Beach Boys usually win the people over? It just seems that they can't lose with that music. While a number of younger people attending the festival obviously could care less, I'll bet The Beach Boys would pick up their fair share of new fans. Sometimes all it takes is for one song to stick - "Good Vibrations", "Fun, Fun, Fun", maybe the car medley, maybe "God Only Knows". No doubt they would. And the Boys could use some newer fans who enjoy the music of The Beach Boys who don't focus so much on the misery.

I suppose there could be some interest in this. In my younger years when I followed things like that, I would've checked it out. Now I'm old and don't know any of the songs, so I guess I'll pass.

I refer to charts after the fact now and again in discussions of music but that’s about it.

I figured this was coming years ago for Lift Bridge Brewery's "Sweet Child o' Vine" IPA. But nope, here it is instead finally with Oskar Blues Brewery's "Guns n Rose'"

GNR could always go into the beer business themselves. Iron Maiden's Trooper beer is pretty popular (I saw quite a few people drinking $15 cans at the last Maiden show I attended). Somewhat unrelated, I do not understand the popularity of IPAs.

There have been several local and regional bands with "their own" (as if they have anything to do with the brewing...) beers around here, probably because at this point you can't throw an empty can without hitting a microbrewery in the Twin Cities.
IPAs ... Minneapolis has been swimming in them for about 10 years. They were almost invisible when I hit legal drinking age, just the micro-famous Summit Pale Ale, mostly. But especially since our Surly created Furious IPA, everybody and their dog has 3-4 different IPAs. (That's another thing, why does one company need four different IPAs?)
I like them, actually, but only to a point. A certain amount of hops/bitterness to me is the "zing" that differentiates lemonade from Kool-Aid, for example. It makes it refreshing in a different way. But the super bitter ones or the super-strong alcohol level ones, I could do without. And I'm not a fan of the various infusions: coffee, grapefruit, etc. (And I'm not a fan of paying $10 for a 4-pack, or $10 for a pint in a bar.)

Baltimore and Maryland has a pretty big craft beer scene, but the IPA thing is fairly recent. At least the explosion of them is. Funny you say you're not into the infusions. Those lend to be the only IPAs I like since the flavor takes away some of the hoppiness. There's a citrus flavored one by a Baltimore brewer that I actually like. But, I'm with you on the price. Which is why I mostly drink macro brews.

And here is how we can tell journalism is dead: the Minneapolis Star Tribune published the story re that Guns n Rose beer and somehow failed to add the fact that we have a local analog. Local editors can add copy to wire stories, people!

I figured I'd post this here considering how central Bruce Springsteen is to the story.

This might turn out to be very annoying, if true. Depends on how easily existing catalogues can be moved over, I suppose. But I have tens of thousands of songs on iTunes. If my library becomes obsolete, or even is a hassle to transition, I will be less than thrilled.
