Brian sounds as bad as he has the past 2 years or so.

Brian sounds as bad as he has the past 2 years or so. I'd like to hear some clips of non PS material. Brian has pretty much been phoning in in for the PS portions of the shows for the last several years.

Oh absolutely, that’s kind of my point. He was passable on hits and atrocious on PS when I saw that tour 1.5 years ago.
But the Xmas clips I saw from last year showed him pretty bad on those tunes too. His occasional lack of interest and effort make it hard to tell either way, but I’m thinking maybe he’s actually lost it now and can’t perform live in a major role at a reasonable level anymore.

Regardless of the occupational therapy aspect, regardless of not just sitting around the house/pool/recliner, regardless of soaking in the "love" from his fans, and regardless of sharing his music with the world, it is just not right to allow this man to continue to embarrass himself.
I wonder if Rob Bonfiglio, who recently performed with Brian's band, will be considered as a replacement for Nicky.

Nicky always seems to do the heavy lifting on guitar, so whoever it is has to be more than a Jardine-style guitar-holder and more a truly good guitarist. I have no idea whether Bonfiglio fits that bill.
I wonder if Blondie would make a strong, hasty replacement. He knows (or knew) some version of much of the material and is obviously good enough to pick up his parts quickly.

By the way, it has to be said: if I were a part of that band and were singing some of those songs' beautiful, almost haunting (and uplifting) harmonies while Nick's guitar stood where he should be, I'd be bawling my eyes out on stage.

I honestly don't know how they carried on that night. And I know Brian's performances have been iffy at best for the last couple years, but I'm pretty much willing to give him a mulligan for that night.

Rehearsals for the upcoming tour (starts Saturday), with a few newish (old) faces. Darian, Probyn, Gary, Rob, Matt, and ... who is the other guy?

The gentleman playing the Fender guitar with the glasses up on his head is Randell Kirsch, who used to be in Mike & Bruce's Beach Boys.

OK, a name I've always known, but not a face I recognized. The incestuous interband relationships continue...

Yeah, while I have no problem with these...moves - actually I could care less - they really are bizarre. It's strange enough to have two Beach Boys touring as one group AND two and a half Beached Boys touring with another band simultaneously, but now you have the backup musicians going back and forth. Only in The Beach Boys!

This type of move suggests to me that much of the rivalry between the camps is fan faction.
