However, my favourite Matthew Sweet song is Where You Get Love, from his Blue Sky on Mars album, so that’s the clip I’m linking. Nice album, bb. Thank you! I wondered whether an album from that era would appeal to me-- and it did!

Good one, jk. Ron Mael could write any kind of song. "Wunderbar" is one of the few Sparks' songs that features a vocalist other than Russell Mael. Gunther Koch guests on this one.

I've been on a Stranglers' kick lately. Here's one of my favorites, "Hanging Around", from their first album, Rattus Norvegicus, released in 1977.

I'd never heard or heard of the Stranglers until this post, but now seeing you posted a list, too, I had to at least listen to this one. Enjoyable. I may look into some more.

I may have mentioned it during the Queen discussions, but I've become a fan of Roger Taylor's first two solo albums. Neither of them are perfect or what I'd call "important" but they've both got their charms. Lately I've been defaulting to them in between more important albums.
This song from his first one, Fun in Space, is... well, fun.
And I love this one from his second album, Strange Frontier. Especially the instrumental section from about 2:36 to 3:36. This one is replete with drum machines and synthesizers but it just hits a lot of really good marks.
EDIT: Evidently Mr. Taylor has disabled his official videos from being playable when linked on other websites so I've replaced them with fan made videos. But the songs are intact.

Folks this is the first in a series of day-related tunes. The Scaffold did some weird stuff in their time--"2 Days Monday" was pretty odd for a debut 45! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Scaffold

Ruby Tuesday...love the lyrics. I knew someone who fit that description.

It's one of my two or three favorite Stones songs. Love it. And I'm curious to see all the other "day" songs! (A little sad Prince's [or the Bangles' more popular rendition of] "Manic Monday" didn't take the cake for the first one, but such is life.)

I'm willing to keep up the "day" songs until we get stumped along the way. So there's always next week, Cap'n. Perhaps one day you can explain Prince to me. I just don't get him (bar the joyous "1999"). Here are Simon & Garfunkel:

Eek. I forgot Thursday. Better late than never. This is David Bowie and the gorgeous "Thursday's Child". Maybe someone else has a Friday song on their mind.
