I'm boycotting that thread! After all, otherwise I'll be a wet blanket. And nobody wants that. As varied as your music tastes are, I continue to be surprised - each year! - at your lack of enthusiasm for Christmas music!

Last year I started listening to The Beach Boys' Christmas Album in October. This year? I've already listened to it 2-3 times. No particular reason other than the weather turned and I love that album! I'll wait 'til December before I start listening to all the rest. I'm forcing myself to wait until the second half of November before I bring out the Christmas tunes this year - Beach Boys or otherwise. I created an insane playlist last year in which the goal was to whittle it down to something manageable and very high quality for the future - but I just kept adding stuff to it, so I'm going to have to start that process all over again. No more adding, just cutting! (Yeah, right...) I'm with you. I love Christmas music, but its too early now. The Jack O Lantern hasn't even begun to rot yet.

I'm going to try. Although after Sheriff's Christmas thread announcement, the first thing I did was crack open ye old Christmas playlist to look at the state of it... I didn't press play though.

When the time gets closer, I'll listen to some of Rob Halford's new Christmas album to see if any songs are worth adding. Luckily, my Xmas CDs are among the few I have easy access to.

I'll say one Christmas album I do listen to most every Christmas, and that I absolutely love: Duke Ellington's version of the Nutcracker Suite. (Actually I love the original, too.) Actually I like the Motown Christmas album from the early 70s (?) as well. And being a Beach Boys fan I'm obviously not entirely opposed to their various efforts to varying degrees. It's not that I hate all of that music, it's just not my thing to be too celebratory or seasonal in general. (Says the guy with a big pot of squash-apple soup simmering, about as autumnal as you can get!)
I swear I won't rain on your parades this year, though!

Would you mind giving a review when you do listen to it? Maybe instead of reducing my 16 hour playlist I'll just keep adding to it and make it a full 24 hours, LOL.

Wow, I think my Xmas playlist is around five hours.

Thanks for the link. I noted Doug's death in The Doors thread, but I didn't think of seeking out Doug's old band, Clear Light. As I'm sure you know, the story is that Doors' Producer, Paul Rothchild, asked Doug Lubahn about joining The Doors, but Doug declined out of loyalty to Clear Light.

I'm listening to some stunning Buxtehude organ music. If you'd suggested I'd be doing such a thing a month ago I would have laughed in your face. It's a funny old world...

My new The Who CD is on its way to me (it was bundled with my concert tickets from earlier this year). Hopefully it will be arriving today. I’ve avoided listening to the new songs that have been released because I want to hear it all together for the first time as an album.

Watching, listening, and laughing in some sort of helpless acknowledgement of genius. (I saw this tour, actually, in St. Paul.) Honestly, a brilliant musician leading a band of real musicians. There's even a moment maybe half an hour in when Prince notes the fact: real music being played by real musicians. (And great ones at that.)

I've never "got" him, you see. I love "1999" but that really is it. Oh, well, except for his collaboration with Kate Bush on this fabulous penultimate track from a fabulous album: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Red_Shoes_(album)

Last Saturday I heard Dion's 1962 US hit "Lovers Who Wander" for the first time (and just now for the second time). It may not have been released as a 45 in the UK. I had recently been smitten by classical orchestral music so maybe I just wasn't listening to the radio at that time. In many ways it's "Runaround Sue Revisited", but that didn't stop it from reaching #3:
