Bruce Springsteen - Born in the U.S.A. (Born in the USA/My Hometown) Speaking of Springsteen Born to Run (Thunder Road / Jungleland) I think Bruce did a great job throughout his career of opening and closing his albums with strong material. You'd think all artists would, but that doesn't really seem to be the case. If I had to choose a "best" for Bruce, factoring in popularity, then I'd probably go with Born in the USA.

If I were to add a solo Beatles contender to the mix, then I think it would have to be:
-Paul McCartney's Band On The Run (Band On The Run / Nineteen Hundred And Eighty Five)
Though, let me offer up an honorable mention:
-George Harrison's Living In The Material World (Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth) / That Is All)

Some good ones I was going to include. A few others, featuring non-classic rock examples (but not exclusively so):
- Modern Lovers, S/T (Roadrunner, Government Center) - Prince, Purple Rain (Let's Go Crazy, Purple Rain) - Guns 'n' Roses, Appetite For Destruction (Welcome to the Jungle, Rocket Queen)
- Neutral Milk Hotel, In the Aeroplane Over the Sea (King of Carrot Flowers pt 1, Two-Headed Boy pt 2) - Of Montreal, Sunlandic Twins (Requiem for O.M.M.2, The Repudiated Immortals)
- Okkervil River, The Stage Names (Out Life is Not a Movie or Maybe, John Allyn Smith Sails)

I guess a very obvious one: Beatles Sgt Pepper (Sgt Pepper, A Day in the Life).

Van Halen - F.U.C.K. (Poundcake / Top of the World) Queen - Innuendo (Innuendo / Show Must Go On) Great picks. I wouldn’t have remembered that VH example but it’s a great one. People forget how successful that album was. I believe it was a #1.

Pink Floyd - The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn (Astronomy Domine / Bike)
Pink Floyd - A Saucerful Of Secrets (Let There Be More Light / Jugband Blues)
Obviously I'm a Syd fan! The beginning...and then the end.
