A lighter rant of mine.
I wish fans of Fall Weather would cool it (get it?) a little. Every summer, around mid July, I see a lot of Facebook posts, mostly from female friends in their 30s (sometimes referred to in the online world as "Basic B!tches") who can't wait for "Hoodles, and pumpkins, and bonfires."
Doesn't time go by fast enough? It's bad enough the retail world is rushing things. I see Sam Adams and Yuengling are already about to put out their Octoberfest beers. It's early F**kin' August. If the highs are still in the 90s and the sun is still out past 8pm, I don't need to think about Octoberfest beers.
One other note about Fall. It's overrated. The idea of fall is great. Nice days in the 60s, cool crisp nights. But, at least in the Baltimore area, we get maybe two weeks of weather like that in the fall. In reality, Fall tends to be rainy and nasty, and by November, it just gets cold.

As someone who strongly prefers 65 to 85, I’ve got to disagree...except for the part about time moving fast enough. Every season, every year, faster than the last. So yes, let’s not rush into fall...even though it’s the best!

So yes, let’s not rush into fall...even though it’s the best! I think I would enjoy Fall more if my region got to experience it for longer than a few days in October. But, to me, it's a very distant second behind summer. Give me hot days, warm nights, late sunsets, and all of the smells, sounds, and sights of summertime any day of the week. The one advantage I've say fall has over summertime is that I can go in my backyard and grill without using bug repellent. And, even with my love of summertime, I don't try to rush winter or spring to get to it.

Our falls (and springs) do tend to be short. And I’ll take summer over Minnesota winter for sure.

I usually cut the grass right up to Thanksgiving.
What does bother me are those people who complain all winter about the cold weather, then on the first spring day when it hits 70 degrees, they COMPLAIN "Oh, it's so hot outside." Then, after complaining all summer long about it being too hot, on the first autumn day when the temperature dips to 50 degrees, they'll say, "Oh, it's so cold outside." They're never happy. Deal with it!
I prefer summer weather, too. I guess it's my favorite season, though I like the change in all seasons. I don't like to see the perennial flowers dying off and having to cut them back, or seeing some of the trees become barren. The yard loses a lot of its appeal.
But autumn does have its advantages. I can finally turn the central air down/off (saving money) which has been cranking pretty much continuously. It's nice to NOT be sweating every time I get in and out of the car (we're really spoiled). And, we have Labor Day cookouts, Halloween, and Thanksgiving. Those are nice. But the best part of fall? Are you ready for some football? Or basketball?

Are you ready for some football? Or basketball? A lot of years have seen pretty cold Novembers. I think the latest I've ever had to cut the grass is early October. I'm not usually one to complain about the weather, heat in particular. I don't how hot it gets, I'll never complain. But, you can bet when that polar vortex makes it physically hurt to be outside in winter, I'll do a little bitching about that. That's actually another reason I think Fall is overrated. Fall is very dependent on Halloween and Thanksgiving. Also, much of the Christmas season technically takes place in the Fall. Summer isn't as dependent on such things to be great.

TV home shopping networks, TV shows/movies, malls, community events, and just people's shopping habits are making the Christmas season mostly a "fall thing". And then, after all of the build up, on the DAY AFTER Christmas, people seem to forget the Christmas spirit, and are ready to move on.

I think the Dec 26 thing you describe is because by Dec 25, people are a bit burnt out by the whole thing. When I was growing up, the season felt a little more special because you really didn't see or hear a trace of it until mid to late November at the earliest. But, like I alluded to earlier, people don't just let things happen anymore.

Disney has announced they're remaking the 1990 movie Home Alone.
This one is odd to me as modern technology would pretty much kill the premise of the movie.

I don't know about you, but I get a kick out of stories about ancient human history, archaeology, paleontology, etc. In that vein, I saw this story this morning showing strong evidence that humans inhabited the mountainous highlands of Ethiopia as much as 47k years ago, contrary to the apparently lazy--just based on hunches more than evidence, according to the story!--assumption that they stuck to lowlands.
I don't know about eating roasted giant mole-rats, though.

I feel like there’s an hour’s worth of “touchdowns” that could show that point too.
