OK, there's no concert tonight--at least not that I'm going to--and it makes me cringe to even think of the BW song from which this thread got its name. But hey, you're reading it.
Thought this might be a spot to talk about shows you're looking at attending, or attended and feel like talking about.
I bring it up because I read today that Terry Reid is doing a show in town Friday. I can't recall having ever heard of him performing locally. While I'm not some uber-fan, I have his River (somewhere) and obviously know of his history as the almost-singer of Zeppelin and all-around Zelig (or for the younger folks, Forrest Gump; and for the even younger folks, ... actually I have no idea but assume some modern take on it has been done). He's playing a pretty small venue, The Cedar Cultural Center, which is where I saw Van Dyke Parks maybe five or six years ago. We're going out of town for the weekend Saturday, but will be in town Friday. So I'm thinking about it...

On June 22 I'm going to see The 2019 Happy Together Tour in Lancaster, PA. This years' artists are:
- The Cowsills - The Buckinghams - The Classics lV - Gary Puckett & The Union Gap - Chuck Negron of Three Dog Night - The Turtles
I went to the 2018 Happy Together Tour with very low expectations, but it was a helluva lot of fun. The artists put out 100%, they ALL can still sing well, and it's an emotional evening of entertainment. AM radio heaven!

Last month, I saw Glenn Hughes do a set of Deep Purple songs, which was a great show. As well as Nick Mason's band doing early Floyd songs I thought I'd never hear live.
This summer, I'm seeing Brian Wilson and Al Jardine's Storytellers concerts with my folks (my wife and I were offered tickets). Also, looking forward to seeing Iron Maiden's Legacy of the Beast tour.

(my wife and I were offered tickets) That's OK; you don't have to be defensive.

I wasn't sure whether to post this in the Hard Rock / Heavy Metal thread, or here, but figured this was the best place
On Tuesday night, I drove from Baltimore to Philadelphia to see Iron Maiden's Legacy of the Beast Tour at the Wells Fargo Center. This was my 8th time seeing the metal legends, and perhaps the best. The setlist relied heavily on their 80s albums, Piece of Mind in particular, but also some nuggets from the 1990s and 2000s were included to make for a great balance.
It was a little rough of a work night, but I'd do it again for Maiden in a heartbeat.
Of the top ten concerts I've ever been to, the top eight are now Iron Maiden.

How far a drive is that, Baltimore to Philly? In my mind, that's a haul! But I'm a Midwesterner whose East Coast experience is limited to flights, so I have no practical working knowledge of distances and times out there.

Maiden was also playing a venue called Jiffy Lube Live in Bristow, VA, which is about 75 miles away, but is a logistical nightmare. Traffic in that direction is far worse, and it takes a minimum of an hour to leave the parking lot.

Quick tangent, but the proximity of major cities to one another on the east coast is always surprising to me. In the Midwest, cities are far more hubs surrounded by suburbs and then large swaths of farmland or other relatively undeveloped land, small towns, and smaller regional cities.
For example, from the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area, the closest major city is Milwaukee--about 5 hours away (unless you count Madison, WI, which is like 4+ hours). Chicago is about 7 hours. You've got Duluth and Rochester, MN, at about two hours, but those are like 100k people apiece, or Des Moines at about 3.5 hours. But again, that's a small-to-mid city.
So the idea of being able to relatively quickly drive between Philly and New York, or Philly and Baltimore, or Baltimore and DC, always feels surreal.

That's one of the reasons a lot of major acts don't play Baltimore. Since DC, Virginia, Philly, Hershey, etc are all a relatively short distance away, major acts don't hit Baltimore too much.

On the other hand, when they skip the MSP market, we're screwed (or in for a long road trip).

Nice review. This tour marked by eighth time seeing Iron Maiden. And it was probably my favorite setlist, if not my favorite show.

I just got tickets to see The Beach Boys at The Hershey Theatre in Hershey, PA on April 8, 2020. A bunch of us old(er) Beach Boys' fans going back to the 1970's have reunited the last couple of years and enjoy going to various shows. While the concert is obviously the highlight, so is our traditional pre-concert dinner at some nice restaurant. It's a lot of fun to reminisce and laugh a little bit. It's amazing how much better I became at high school sports after not playing a down, a minute, or an inning in several decades.
